One of the guys I marched with while I was at the Madison Scouts writes one of the most consistently funniest blogs I have read. Whenever a new blog post gets put up my wife and I read it together and are always, without fail, laughing hard. It is called What My Kids Don’t Know Hurts Me by Chris Hollenback. I highly suggest you head on over and read some entries. You won’t be disappointed.

Do you have trouble waking up your kids for school? Do you end up having to threaten them? Or dump water on them? Or sic your neighbor’s dog on them?

Well no more!

I was listening to the radio a couple of weeks ago and one mom was talking about the problems of getting her daughter out of bed. She then remembered what her mom did to wake her up when she was young. She recommended turning on nice music and calmly waking your children as that was working well for her daughter.

I tried that, only the setting was slightly different. I went with high powered jazz music instead and I am telling you what- this is working (for now at least)! My son loves it and he looks forward to waking up. I’ve been turning on Harry Connick Jr the past week and he is ready to go.

I highly recommend it. Waking him up is not a hassle anymore…for now.

Alright, I lied. I said that I was done revamping all the old music comics for the calendar. This is the last one, trust me (I’ve submitted a draft of my calendar so this is the last revamp).

This was a tough one for me because I liked how the old one looked and I intended to use the old version on the calendar. However, when all was said and done it didn’t match the style of the other 11 comics. So here is the new version:

Want to relax? Check out this link that Eric Whitacre posted on Twitter a while back. Very nice! And yes…those are whale sharks.

You may have heard of Randy Pausch and his book The Last Lecture within the last couple of years. If you have not, then you need to get acquainted with his book and this video. It is an hour and 16 minutes but it is very much worth watching. I watched it over a course of a few lunch breaks while at home. Turn off that other reality TV and watch this very real video. Very inspirational.

Just got done redoing another comic in my archives. I’ve been planning a 2010 Matter of Fact Music Calendar and want all of the styles to match so any comic that is included is being redone. However with this one I added another punchline that I feels improves the comic 200%, in my opinion.

Check back in for more revamps as I redo more for the calendar. Thanks!!!

In anticipation of the music calendar I am going to put out for 2010, I went back and redrew the Tuba While You Work comic.  For the calendar I am going to make the style homogeneous, so I am redrawing the old strips that I need to use to match my new style.  Here is the new and the old version:

NEW

OLD

You might also have noticed that the fellar in the comic got a promotion and now has his own office. But he still sticks his roots and recycles his paper.

More information on the calendar to come!
